
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She is captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team along with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. [8][98][9] Morgan was chosen as the top pick in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. The team made her professional debut and played in the team's win of the league championship. Morgan was only 22 at the time, making her the youngest member of the national team for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final clash against Canada in the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goals. She was the second player in the United States to have 21 assists and 20 goals for 2012, making her the seventh-youngest and most prolific athlete in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. Morgan was later awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Championships in 2019. She was selected to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she won the Silver Boot.
